We are proud to announce that Hublsoft has been awarded an Innovation Grant from the UK government to enhance our technology roadmap and accelerate the path to our vision.
When viewed as an asset, data has almost limitless potential in its ability to create value and change the world. The pandemic has shone a light on this, further accelerating the demand for digital solutions and the skills required to understand and exploit them.
These skills perform the translation between a data world that is technical and complex, into something meaningful - to a business, or society, for example. Enormous innovation has gone into making tools smarter and smarter, but this makes them more complex and therefore requires more technical specialism to operate. This is the realm of the data scientist.
We are now faced with a severe skills crisis and a scarcity of data scientists, which has more than tripled over 5 years, leaving Britain vulnerable (The Royal Society, 2019). On one side, we have unprecedented demand to exploit data, remain competitive, and achieve progress; on the other, we don't have enough skilled capacity to achieve it.
Clearly, there is a role for upskilling and education to increase supply, but this will not be sufficient to cope. A new approach is needed to remove the skills dependency, whilst achieving the same outcomes.
At Hublsoft, we have already pioneered a new human-first approach to data analysis, which has removed the barriers for non-technical people. Our technology allows business leaders and decision makers to do this themselves and augments their ability to extract value from vast or complicated data landscapes, eliminating the cost and dependency associated with hiring additional business intelligence specialists or data analysts.
We are now extending our approach to include more sophisticated augmented intelligence, to enhance and strengthen our product and to tackle deeper problems we see within the data science domain.
By incorporating various Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning techniques into our existing human-centric platform, we can enable business people to perform data science tasks without needing specialist skills, servicing the augmented intelligence market from a new angle.
This funding will allow us to deliver a new business simulation experience, empowering leaders and decision-makers to plot their own course. Automated data-driven intelligence will be generated in real-time, supporting the journey leaders go on when evaluating the predicted impact of business decisions.
Crucially, the insights generated will augment, not dictate. For this to work, the user must remain in total control and have complete transparency and trust in what they and the technology are doing, which is at the heart of the human-centric experience we have built.
To create a global hotspot for innovation and creativity within the UK, the government has pledged significant funding to back some of the most game-changing and world-leading ideas through a number of schemes, one of which is the Innovate UK Smart Grant scheme. The Innovate UK Smart Grant scheme, which is giving access to more than £25 million in funding, encourages UK companies to bring forward their most unique and ambitious ideas and concepts that can transform people's lives, industries and the world. To apply for the grant, a business must have either:
A very tough and rigorous process that sees only a select few companies selected for funding, of which Hublsoft is delighted to be among.
