Where in the Sporting World is Hubl?

Summer’s here!  Or so we’re led to believe, and despite the weather we’re set for a summer jam-packed with sports. With so much to keep us entertained, including the UEFA Euros and the Paris Olympics, we’ve decided to celebrate with a special sporting edition of our annual Where in the World is Hubl team challenge.

What is the Where in the World is Hubl Challenge?

The Where in the World Challenge is an annual tradition for us,  and a firm summer fixture. Born out of the pandemic of 2020, its aim was, and still is, to boost mental health & wellbeing, team morale and connection, through a combination of physical activities, puzzles, and other challenges while raising money for our chosen charity partners.  The challenge is now in its fifth year and has seen the team virtually travel, via My Virtual Mission, over 54,000 miles and hand over a huge £4,300 to some amazing charities.

Introducing Where in the Sporting World is Hubl

This year, we are getting competitive. We have split our team into three sub-teams, competing to raise the most money for this year's charity partners. The team that raises the most wins!

There are three main ways in which our teams can raise funds for charity in this year's challenge:

1- Racing Around Our Virtual Route

The three teams are racing around Europe on a specially designed 4,100km route that takes in some of the biggest sporting events of the summer, including stadiums from the UEFA Euros to the venues of the Paris Olympics and iconic venues such as Monaco and Le Mans. The team can log distance by doing virtually any physical activity, from tracking their steps to long-distance cycling events, to gardening and everything in between; all physical activity counts.

2- Weekly Team Challenges

You’ll know from our other posts that we’re an inclusive team, and points can be earned through both movement and solving riddles all count towards the fundraising target.  Every week during the overall challenge, the teams will be set a number of weekly challenges that require them to use their combined brain power to earn points. These include riddles, puzzles, photography challenges, and events from our very own HublOlympics.

3- Challenge Days

This year, we are awarding double distance to any team member who participates in a special challenge day with their colleagues. The aim here is to have some fun together, and these challenges are designed to push individuals in a chosen discipline, whether that’s a tag-running event, a long-distance walking challenge, or maybe a day’s conservation volunteering.  Last year, some of the team completed the gruelling uphill 118km Tan Hill cycling challenge - a fantastic day, pushing all the boundaries in terms of the art of the possible.  It’s an achievement that everyone is rightly very proud of!

Wish us luck, and keep an eye on our social channels for progress updates and to see how we get on.

On your marks, get set, go!
